At SMA parents play an integral role and are key members of our community.
We strive at every interaction to partner with parents in meeting both educational and developmental needs of their child. We communicate in numerous ways to allow parents to be aware of a child’s growth and progress.
Teachers communicate on a weekly basis with parents in both a classroom newsletter and a communication notebook, showing parents a snippet of what their child worked on that week. This allows parents to initiate conversations with their child regarding his week at school. In addition, parents receive three progress reports detailing the growth and goals for each child and in two parent-teacher conferences per year. We invite parents to come in after the initial several weeks of school to come and observe the classroom and child. Lastly, we host two parent nights where parents come into the classroom with their child and the child becomes the teacher offering her parent Montessori lessons.
We host both parent education and social events to help parents feel a sense of belonging.
