schedule a Tour

1 – Schedule a Tour

Your first step is to schedule a personalized tour (either via Zoom or in person) or attend an Open House. During the personalized tour, we will learn about your family’s needs for the education and care of your child, and you can learn more about our program and the Montessori approach. You will also have the opportunity to share information regarding your child’s development, personality, interests and abilities, ensuring a strong foundation for partnership between school and home.

2 – Complete and Submit an Application for Admission

Once you have decided that Southwest Montessori Academy is a great fit for your child and family, you will need to submit an application for admission, along with a non-refundable $100 application fee. A link for the online application will be sent to you after you complete your tour.

*Children must turn three years old before December 1st to apply for the current school year.

3 – Prospective Student Visit in the Classroom

Once the application is received and application fee paid, we will schedule a time for the prospective student to visit and experience the classroom under the guidance of a trained Montessori teacher. During the visit, your child will have the opportunity to interact within the Montessori classroom. The teacher’s goal will be to interact with your child and show them what a Montessori classroom is like, and for us to know that your child is ready for school. From an observation window you will be able to see how your child interacts within the environment, as well as how the teacher and other students interact with each other (if scheduled during classroom hours).

4 – Admissions Decision

Once we determine that we are able to provide an education that will meet your child’s needs, as well as maintain the needs of the classroom as a whole, you will be offered an enrollment spot. You will accept the spot by submitting the $100 enrollment fee and paying the deposit. Note, if a spot on the waitlist is offered instead, you can submit the $50 waitlist fee, which counts toward the enrollment fee. We will also explain the next steps and timeline for submitting a deposit and the first month’s tuition via our tuition payment system called FACTS, along with a signed tuition agreement, to complete the enrollment process.

5 – Welcome and Orientation

It is important for every family to attend the annual orientation session in order to understand the policies and procedures of our school community. Our annual Parent Orientation night is held in August, the week prior to the start of school. We also arrange for a special "Meet the Teacher" time for you and your child to establish a connection with the teachers and allow your child to become familiar with their new environment.
